Chapter 13: Data Privacy, Compliance & Security Subsection 13.2 Playbook & Framework

13.2 Data Governance

Part of Chapter 13: Data Privacy, Compliance & Security in the Master Go-To-Market (GTM) & Revenue Architecture Index.

Robust data governance establishes clear rules for data access, lineage, retention, and subject request fulfillment across the GTM data layer:

🔒 Visual Architecture: Global Privacy Compliance, Data Governance & SOC2 Module 13.2: Data Governance
13.1 Regulatory Frameworks • GDPR (EU Opt-In & Legal Basis) • CCPA / CPRA (Opt-Out & Lineage) • CAN-SPAM (1-Click Unsubscribe) • CASL (Express/Implied Consent) 13.2 Data Governance & PII • AES-256 at Rest / TLS 1.3 Transit • Least-Privilege RBAC Controls • Automated DSAR Deletion Sync • 24-Month Inactivity Auto-Purge 13.3 Vendor Security (SOC2) • Mandatory SOC 2 Type II Audits • Vendor Risk Assessment (VRA) • Legal DPAs & Embedded SCCs • Okta SAML 2.0 SSO & SCIM Sync
Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Management

PII (e.g., names, personal emails, direct phone numbers) must be encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3). Access to raw PII in data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery) is restricted via column-level security and data masking.

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Enforce least-privilege access across sales, marketing, and CS tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo). User roles restrict export permissions, bulk record access, and sensitive field visibility based on job function.

Data Subject Access Requests (DSAR) & Deletion Orchestration

Automated workflows (e.g., via n8n or privacy orchestration APIs) propagate Right-to-be-Forgotten / deletion requests across all connected GTM systems—including CRMs, marketing automation, data warehouses, and enrichment databases—within required legal SLAs.

Data Retention & Lifecycle Management

Establish automated retention schedules to purge stale or non-responsive prospect data after defined inactivity thresholds (e.g., 24 months) to minimize data liability.
